Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity has a special program called HabitatPRO. This is a comprehensive LEED Project Experience program designed to help Larimer County professionals and students gain the now-required on-site experience working on a LEED registered construction project. This is now required as professionals desire to achieve the LEED Professional (LEED AP) credential.
LEED Professional Credentials recognize professionals who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED green building rating systems, and the certification process.
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive the required letter of attestation to sit for ANY of the LEED accreditation exams. And, while they're working to achieve that, Habitat enjoys their volunteer efforts in building a great home for a deserving local low-income Fort Collins area family.
Fort Collins Habitat is only the second Habitat Affiliate in the country to offer this specialized green jobs training program! Participants in the program pay a small tuition that helps defray the cost of what Habitat pays for the verification, certification and registration fees for the home to be LEED certified.
HabitatPRO is a unique LEED Project Experience program that gives those seeking LEED accreditation an extraordinary opportunity to learn LEED by actually doing LEED. Participants receive the rare opportunity to roll up their sleeves, come to the construction site and get involved with a LEED-registered project being built by Habitat.
The educational experiences tie study material to real-world applications and offer an unparalleled opportunity for professionals. The HabitatPRO program allows everyone, regardless of background or knowledge level, to have access to LEED Project Experience and accumulate the required experience and knowledge.
