We are counting down to raising the walls on the Hile Family home on Saturday, May 11th at 9 a.m. in celebration of Mother's Day weekend. Through our Date with Destiny initiative, 100 women have been invited to give $1,000 to buy the "bricks and sticks" for the home. Over 70 women have already given! Thank you to everyone who has given to make this dream possible for Ms. Hile and her daughters! If you would like to join you may give now.
The Women Build program brings together women from all walks of life to take a stand for safe, affordable housing. In the United States, more than 12 million children - one out of every six - are living in poverty. Our community has a real need for affordable housing. Over 10,000 individuals in Fort Collins would qualify income-wise to become Habitat partner families and many are living in fear of rising rental costs and having to choose between housing and other necessities.
Women Build is also a way for local women to become empowered to learn construction skills. More than 1,600 Women Build homes have been built throughout the world and this will be the 4th Women Build home in Fort Collins. You are invited to build and can sign up on through VolunteerUp.
P.S. There are many ways to support Women Build including building, giving, knitting, and even singing along to Mamma Mia! Below are upcoming events and an opportunity to help us grow this grassroots initiative and give $100 in honor of a special woman for Mother's Day.
