We often get simple homemade items, like this nifty little table.

Every day is an adventure at the ReStore.? We never know what is going to be donated.? Sometimes a donation is something really practical, sometimes it is extremely exotic or luxurious and sometimes the items are made even more meaningful because they are hamdmade.

“You can’t buy love, but you can buy handmade and that’s kind of the same thing.”

These handmade items we receive span the spectrum

from the extremely rustic,

to the very simple.?

But some sometimes they show us a little bit of history.??

Like this handmade cabinet. if you look closely you can see that the highlighted parts of this cabinet used to be a table.?

Here is a detail, showing the inside view of the cabinet corner containing the table leg.

Then a drawer was made from a Cream-O-Wheat box. These details can tell us a story about the time when this item was made.? In this case, during the depression, when building supplies where short and reuse was not an option but a necessity.

And finally, some items show us the talents that others have.? Like this beautiful professional looking table, which just happens to be handmade.

In these views, you can see the professional quality job that someone did, but you can also see the pencil marks of a handcrafted item.

This table is a small masterpiece!
